Everyone has a philosophy concerning life. Many people don't really think about it and thus sometimes don't even realize they actually have a philosophy. But without one, we would be frozen, not able to take action in any given situation. My philosophy has changed a number of times over the years. In my younger days I was basically a deist, believing in God, possibly the one portrayed in the Bible, but not really acting on it in any way. In my mid-20s I became a Christian. Then, about two years later, after studying the Bible in more detail, I began to doubt. Over a five year period, my faith slipped away to be replaced with deism once again. Then, upon reading Ayn Rand, I became an agnostic Objectivist. I am still mostly of this persuasion, but I have rejected some tenants of Objectivism. In the late 80's I began writing down my thoughts. Below are some of those writings, including a few that were published in Objectivist philosophical journals. Keep in mind that these essays represent my thinking at the time of their writing. While I still mostly believe what I state therein, I may have changed my thinking on some points.
